Surveyor's Office

Keeps and maintains a section corner record book showing original government section corners. Checks and references at least 5% of all corners shown in the record book and establishes, locates and references at least 5% of all original government section corners Prepares land surveys at the request of the Lake County Board of Commissioners for County owned properties Provides plats, topographic surveys and construction stakeout for the Lake County Board of Commissioners for county buildings and other facilities, as needed Oversees field work and designs for drainage within established subdivision easements for the Lake County Board of Commissioners and the Lake County Public Works Department Assists the County Prosecutor, the County Sheriff’s Department and municipal law enforcement efforts to determine the location of drug houses and drug arrests in the vicinity of schools Certifies that the location of certain establishments seeking an alcoholic beverage permit are within a one (1) mile radius of a settlement that has been in existence for more than 10 years, prior to the Indiana Alcoholic Beverage Commission issuing the permit
